The Shanghai Museum East Campus is a stunning, modern home for China’s most prestigious treasures. With world-class Bronze, Ceramics, and Jade galleries, the layout is open, English-friendly, and truly impressive.
While the Main Campus at People’s Square now focuses on bringing the world’s history to China, the East Campus is clearly designed to showcase China’s history to the world.

The main museum was fully booked so we ended up taking a bus here, and we're glad we did! Huge museum full of Chinese works from all time periods. Architecturally it was one of the most striking and memorable museums I’ve been to. Nice rooftop pavilion and terraces as well. Overall a day well spent.

Free. But no nearby bus or metro, nearest one is about 10 mins walking distant. Not much food option near by as well. Food is pretty expensive within the museum. This one is much bigger than the other one, highly recommend to visit. You can buy tour on taobao or lots of other apps. Also you can rent some guide machine for a fee which in my opinion is waste of money, those are pretty bad not much useful info.

Excellent museum and a great place to escape the summer heat. Entrance is free. To start with, the building which was designed by a group of architects from tongji university is marvelous. Large spaces and the spiral walkway from the top floor down...
It displays Chinese artifacts and cultures. Sections are divided according to materials: Copper, porcelain, cloth and coloring, Jade, metals. Great explanation also in English You can easily spend a full day here

This museum was pretty cool! They even had a Uniqlo inside specifically branded for the museum and you could also customize shirts and bags there too. I enjoyed the bronze and jade displays of artifacts and they actually have a really cool gift shop as you walk in. Worth checking out!
