I had some free time between business trips to Takayama, so I took a stroll through the "old townscape (around Kamisannomachi)." As soon as I stepped inside, I was greeted by an atmospheric Edo-period landscape, bustling with the bustle of foreign tourists. What particularly impressed me was the tasting experiences at the sake breweries scattered throughout the area. The beautiful townscape, which retains a strong resemblance to the Edo period, is one that makes you want to return again and again. It was my first time in winter, but the atmospheric scenery with falling snow stirred the Japanese in me.

The old townscape, lined with old townhouses and sake breweries, is a popular tourist spot that retains a strong Edo-period atmosphere. The streets are packed with gourmet food, including Hida beef nigiri and mitarashi dango (sweet rice dumplings with sweet soy sauce), and souvenirs are also available. Historic old town with two-story wooden houses. Many souvenir shops with a good selection. There are also several street restaurants and better traditional restaurants.
A pleasant stroll through the town. Parking is only available outside the historic district in paid parking lots.
