[Explanatory Sign] This was the site of the residence of Nagaya no O, Minister of the Left with the rank of Shonii (Senior Second Rank), at the beginning of the Nara period (8th century). Excavations began in 1986, and in 1988, a large number of mokkan (wooden tablets) were unearthed, proving that this was Nagaya no O's residence.
