Among the many treasures of Prince Gong Mansion, the Bat Hall stands out as a chamber full of symbolism and auspicious meaning. The name comes from the Chinese word for bat, fu (蝠), which is a homophone of fu (福), meaning “good fortune.” As a result, the hall is richly decorated with bat motifs—on the beams, windows, and carved details—turning the space into a visual blessing of happiness and prosperity.
