The church was built in the 13th century, during the reign of Ferdinand III, when Córdoba became part of the Castilian kingdom. Blending Gothic and Mudéjar styles, it is dedicated to Saint Lawrence and remains one of the finest examples of early medieval architecture in the city.

One of the most beautiful churches included within the Fernandinas route. It has a rather lovely frescoed central apse. The main alter was dismantled and relocated to the left as you enter the church to expose the original frescoes. A lovely place to sit and contemplate life for a few minutes.
