A beautiful gem in the heart of Stuttgart. In a fantastic location. A fantastic view (towards Cannstatt/Untertürkheim). We were privileged to experience a wonderful summer concert (in a summer rainstorm) with the Berger Choir in the church.

The church is small but has a beautiful tower that is easily visible from afar. Walking around the church offers a fantastic view over the city's rooftops and excellent acoustics when concerts are played at the Cannstatter Wasen.

Berger Kirche is Stuttgart’s oldest Protestant church, with roots dating back to the 12th century. Though modest in size, its Romanesque origins and later Gothic touches offer a quiet glimpse into the city’s medieval past. Surrounded by trees and tucked into the residential Berg district, it’s a peaceful spot with a strong sense of continuity; unassuming, yet enduring.

Currently, the church in Stuttgart-Berg is increasingly being used by a Ukrainian congregation, as the Protestant pastor is apparently no longer able to attract his own congregation to services – possibly due in part to his sometimes questionable and occasionally outlandish arguments.

Unfortunately, the Ukrainian congregation shows little sensitivity (and doesn't speak a word of German) to the concerns of the local residents. They show absolutely no consideration for the neighborhood: the area
