Beautiful Setting and Great Service, But Disappointing Room Experience We stayed at Anchorage for our anniversary and while the service was excellent and the buffet breakfast was great, there were several aspects of our stay that left us underwhelmed. We were first allocated a room that had ants all over the bed. While this wasn’t necessarily the hotel’s fault – these things happen – the staff were quick to move us. However, the new room we were given was on the ground floor, right next to the restaurant, with very little privacy and significant noise. For a special occasion like an anniversary, we would have appreciated a more peaceful setting. The room itself was poorly insulated – we felt the cold throughout the night, and the heater barely made a difference. The shower stall was also quite narrow, making it less than comfortable. Adding to the disappointment, we were told the jacuzzi was out of order, and the spa was closed – on a Sunday, which was surprising and something we’ve never experienced at a resort before. While the staff were lovely and attentive, and the location is stunning, the overall experience didn’t live up to the expectations we had for a special getaway. With a few improvements in maintenance and guest comfort, this could be a truly exceptional stay.
