Lovely ryokan with very friendly staff conversant in English. We had a wonderful time here, and enjoyed the private onsen (the public baths are free but you can reserve the private onsen for a fee). The tatami room and futons were cosy, warm (we stayed in January winter), and so comfortable. The reception area offered free freshly brewed coffee ☕️, tea, herbal tea, and even ice cream. This was such a highlight of our trip. It felt so nostalgic and cozy. The front desk staff was super helpful and spoke English. We were able to leave our luggage at the front desk while we explored the deer park after check-out, and they let us borrow umbrellas since it was raining. The outdoor hot spring was very nice and helped my aching legs tremendously. The view is blocked from the women's onsen due to temporary construction but it was a pleasant experience anyway.
