What an amazing experience to join the Ultimate Hikes Milford Track walk. As well as the luxury of arriving to catering and hot showers at each lodge after a day of walking through spectacular scenery, the skills, good humour and advice of the guides was invaluable - especially when the weather turned. Thanks Helen, Emma, Kana and Tom (and all the Ultimate Hikes staff along the way) for creating an experience we’ll always remember!!

This was the best hiking trip we’ve ever done — it’s set the bar so high that we honestly don’t know what could top it next.

We were incredibly impressed with Ultimate Hikes’ organization. Every detail felt carefully planned, and the whole journey ran seamlessly. Our guides — Annie, Campbell, Haisley, and Kirstyn — were fun, but professional and knowledgeable.

If you can afford to do the catered version of the Grand Traverse or Milford tracks with Ultimate Hikes you must do it!!

Staff incredible young people. Food out the gate awesome and some fantastic people on the tramps too both from NZ and rest of world.

Did the Grand Traverse (Greenstone & Routeburn tracks) in December 2025 and loved it. It was challenging at times, but the staff (Gina, Tom, Molly & Ollie as guides, with others in the Routeburn track lodges) made it enjoyable and memorable. Be prepared for weather changes, but that too adds to the excitement and challenge. Beautiful scenery and peaceful surroundings to make it a walk to remember.

We recently got back from the Routeburn track and had an amazing experience. Obviously the NZ scenery is the star of the show but the guides, lodge staff and admin staff are key to getting the show on the road. We were guided by Tee, Olly, Kana and Lucy who were knowledgeable, cheerful, positive and an absolute pleasure to walk with.
