A wonderful cathedral with a rich history! Pre-revolutionary construction, during Soviet repressions for several years it was the only open church in Almaty. I was very moved by the history of this place and the fact that most of the icons were preserved from closed churches.

The first Cathedral of the city. The oldest cathedral in the city. As the city was founded in 19 century starting with four villages: Fides, Spes, Caritas et Sapientia. Faith, Hope, Love and Wisdom. In Russian the first one stands for Vera, so the city was called Verniy. As the city started to grow, the wooden cathedral was built.
