Amazing place, remote enough to be mostly empty, restored to a degree that allows one to imagine its past. Many thanks to the scientists working on preserving it🧱👏
Come if only to experience a break from the bustling Bodrum Marina.
Hiking from Bodrum Uptown is possible, but Google shows some roads as walk-throughs when in fact there's a gated community and exits are blocked. Take lots of water, wear trainers and cover your head as the road is often unshaded by trees.

You can drive up to a car park, but we prefered to walk up. Very clean and tidy. Lots to see. You really need to like walking and remember to take water. The sights are breath taking. So stunning. We went to the top where the flag ruins and history are, you do get spoilt with some thick wooden steps nearer to the top. A long walk but the views are worth every step.

This is a great site on the red white trail. We came from Bodrum and then descended off the path at Konacik. We saw absolutely no other hikers, but we did pass a few farms and farmers. Highly recommend if you like a medium difficulty trail and loads of ruins.

If you are looking for a place to take any kind of dynamic and unique pictures, this place has a myriad of opportunities for the perfect frame. For best effect come during the hours of dusk or dawn.
When you first enter you can choose to go the route that leads you to the acropolis and amphitheater (wide gravel road that veers to the right), or to the immediate left is the sanctuary. The sanctuary route will have you hiking a 12 Km trail of moderate difficulty before you reach its location

Beautiful nature trails for walking or running. Watch out for bees (I was running, so they didn’t bother me). I enjoyed seeing many parts of the ruins. Be ready for self-navigation. Some of the trails are not maintained or marked. Other parts of the “trail” are roads.
