This beautiful Hellenistic and Roman settlement was designated as the capital of Asia minor in 133 BC. Our favorite parts were the Temple of Hadrian and the Library of Celsus. Really enjoyed having a live guide to provide historical background. She said that a canal is currently being constructed to recreate the original grand sea entrance to Ephesus. Should be done in the next 5 years and we cannot wait to see it! Great Theatre is currently closed for renovations.

What a truly historic site to visit !! The history here is absolutely amazing and well worth the entrance fee and the lineups. This was one of our favourite sites to visit during our stay in Turkey. Even though we were on a small group tour that didn’t mean we had a private tour or anything. We were one of many smaller tour buses amongst all the larger and plentiful tour buses bringing in all the tourists. Maybe 750-1200 people there at the same time. WOW is absolutely an understatement for how amazing Ephesus truly is. The entrance fee was 40 euro per person, but it is absolutely worth the price of admission. I had to stop multiple times throughout the city to reflect and realize how exceptionally beautiful Ephesus is. I highly recommend stopping at the cafe. The macarons were delicious. The cafe cats also really enjoyed the smoked Gouda and turkey sandwich haha. The Ephesus museum is also a very nice feature. There is an audio tour availabl

This was such a truly wonderful piece of history I was honored to visit! If you’re looking to save some money coming here, I’d take the train for about 85-100 Lira, a taxi which for me was about 20 £, and the ticket was 40 £! Make sure your camera roll is empty, you’ll take so many photos! Bring treats for cats if you like cat pictures too!

I would recommend buying tickets in advance, online is the easiest. You should have good comfortable shoes, especially if it rains. Was all the tours, it gets pretty crowded. Like all places, it's best to go early in the morning. The architecture is beautiful and definitely worth it. The library is the best part. We were here in october and there was a lot of mosquitoes. And just like the rest of the area, there were lots of street dogs.
