Bunker Art 1 in Tirana is an incredible, surreal experience. Walking inside, you immediately feel the weight of history and the uniqueness of the space — it’s like stepping into another world. We visited BunkART1 and had a pleasant time. The place is stuck in the 70’s, when it was built and there’s this distinct smell as you go through the rooms.

Many rooms were predominantly image focused, but we enjoyed the rooms that showed how the commanders slept and the assembly hall. To think it’s all in a mountain is an incredible achievement. A testament to their dedication to build bunkers during that time.

A very interesting visit to a 106 room bunker laid out over 5 underground floors. There is plenty of explanation inside written in English. There was only a detailed timeline that was in Albanian. However there is good wifi underground and we used that to translate it. We walked around slowly and read most of the stuff. It took us about 2 hours.

There is a toilet available in the middle of the bunker.

Free parking is available after the tunnel in front of the ticket office.

An amazing place!... This is one of those places I will never forget as long as I live.... It was both breathtaking and scary in many ways. What money was poured into this bunker to protect the dictator is what could happen in any country. Reading the history of it and what has happened in Albania was breathtaking. It is worth any trip to go and see this. I would love to see more art in some of the empty rooms... But the history that was told in this place was absolutely breathtaking.

Very insightful to see the bunker from the inside and all the information that is given. Learned alot of the Albanian history and all the stages they went through. It takes quite a while to walk to the bunker from the start position. Totally recommend this place, especially if you are into history and want to learn more about Albania.
