We recently stayed at this beautiful hotel over the weekend. While the setting and decor are truly stunning and the overall ambiance is serene, unfortunately, the service did not live up to expectations especially given the premium price. There were several issues that left us disappointed. Breakfast took an unexpected 50 minutes to arrive, which set the tone early on. Our room, while stylish, lacked basic amenities such as a fridge. At The Ox Barn, our main courses were served 10 minutes apart an awkward and disappointing experience for what should have been a wonderful anniversary dinner. While the staff were apologetic and removed the service charge, also offering a complimentary dessert, it didn’t fully make up for the disruption. Cocktails varied wildly in quality depending on who was making them some were excellent, others quite underwhelming. There were also a few billing errors with extra items added that we hadn't ordered. These were corrected when raised, but again, not what you expect at this level. Another frustrating moment came in the bar: we ordered one portion of nibbles and were told eight had been ordered instead. We were then left waiting so long for olives that we had to cancel them entirely as we had other plans. Overall, it’s a beautiful hotel with potential, but the service needs significant improvement to match the setting and justify the cost.
