We spent 4 days at the hotel with two small children (3 and 5 years old). There were a few things we loved and a few we didn't: the grounds, exterior and interior design are stunning. Even though it was fully booked, you always find a quiet spot even at the indoor pool, the vast gardens, a bench etc. The hotel is child friendly with a few attentive details (child seat for the bikes, small gifts, goats and chicken, ducks that can be fed etc.). Where we were disappointed was the dinner /restaurant experience at the "bistro" Table du Lavoir and the wine bar "ROUGE". It just felt that dishes and wines were extremely overpriced while being quite simple. When compared to any of the restaurants in Bordeaux city, you get far better value for money elsewhere. Wines were often at 4x to 6x markup multiplier even the really expensive ones. We were served simple main dishes (fish fillet, sauteed veggies and mashed potato) at €35 per dish. At the ROUGE you get a small Croque Monsieur at €23 (a small slightly burned sandwich). I understand you pay a little extra for the nice surroundings but I think they went a bit overboard especially with the wines. Another element we did not like as much was the room (Junior Suite). It was really, really dark and it had a air conditioning that was extremely loud but also needed at night since it got stuffy in the room.
