⭐ Guest Review
This was a good, but not great hotel in Mongar. The location was pretty good, as it was close to the main town. And being a bit outside the main town it was a bit quieter. But if you want to go out late at night the road back here can be a bit confusing, and there are also some angry dogs on the streets that will intimidate you if you let them. The rooms were good. The beds were comfortable (though small) and the linens were clean. And the rooms were relatively warm too. The wifi also worked pretty well. My only complaint about the room is that the bathroom floors didn't drain well at all (even for Asian style bathrooms), so given the cold weather and high humidity, if you shower the floor will not be dry before you check out. The restaurant was pretty good. I like spicy food so I was definitely a fan of their Bhutanese set meal. But if you aren't into really spicy food, this might not be your kind of restaurant. My guide had trouble with the food, saying it was too spicy for his taste (and he ate about a pound of ema datshi every day). The service at the restaurant was a bit slow and very hands off. If you needed something, you might have to wait a few minutes for staff to appear, even if you're the only one in the restaurant. All told, this hotel is good enough to recommend, but it isn't without its issues. You likely won't get a choice of where to stay when you're in Mongar, but this one is a pretty good one overall.
