This place was recommended warmly by a friend of mine. The brief exchange we had after my booking was already very sweet and had me excited to enjoy Rio staying here. Just before the trip was supposed to start my friend had a severe accident and we had to cancel the trip. Gerthrude's was exceptionally friendly, considerate and generous in the treatment of this unfortunate event. I can only recommend everyone to choose Gerthrude's. What a beautiful view, great hospitality, atmosphere and decor. We loved our stay with the two brothers, who are very helpfully and inviting. The rooms are great, comfortable beds and breakfast is at a beautiful setting with all kind of options for everyone.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Gerthrude's for a week and had a wonderful experience there. Our flight arrived hours before check-in and we were able to pay a portion of the daily rate to check in early. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by the owner and offered a delicious breakfast in the lovely dining area, complete with views of Sugarloaf Mountain. After breakfast, her son oriented us about the neighborhood, giving us a local map of Santa Teresa with some tips on the best local bars, resta
