Accessibility

The property is located in a remote area, Hamnøya, which is best accessed by private car. The traditional cabins, often built on stilts over the water with steps for entry, may present challenges for guests with mobility issues. It is essential to contact the hotel directly to discuss specific accessibility needs before arrival.

Policies

The front desk is open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM daily for check-in and assistance. Given the rustic nature of the cabins, it is advisable to inquire directly about specific policies regarding children, pets, and payment methods. The unique setup may not be suitable for all travelers, so confirming details prior to booking is recommended.

Sustainability

Staying in a traditional 'rorbu' (fisherman's cabin) is a form of cultural sustainability, preserving and utilizing historical buildings. The rustic nature of the accommodation, with potentially minimal heating and shared resources, inherently promotes a lower-energy lifestyle. The remote location also encourages engagement with the natural environment.

Good

We’ve been traveling through Norway for 21 days, and Eliassen Rorbuer is the only place where breakfast was not included, which is surprising given the standard to high pricing. Every other hotel we’ve stayed at—without exception—offered breakfast. The place is very rustic, almost like a refined camping experience. The cabins are packed tightly together, with little privacy, a lot of surrounding noise, and poor ventilation: the windows barely open, and it was very hot inside, especially at night. Comfort is quite minimal. Another frustrating issue is the hot water system—a small tank shared between multiple buildings, so it’s very easy to run out of hot water, especially after a day of outdoor activities. 👉 The only real positive is the view. The location is stunning, surrounded by majestic mountains. You can get beautiful photos and enjoy the natural setting. That said, the overall value for money is disappointing. It feels like the place relies heavily on its popularity and location without delivering a level of comfort or service to justify the cost. We only booked here because everything else was sold out, and honestly, we would not recommend this accommodation, except perhaps in the off-season—or for those seeking a very basic, rustic experience.
