The fountain is absolutely beautiful and the square it sits in feels like stepping straight into a fairy tale. It’s a great spot to sit for a moment and soak in the atmosphere.

Lovely fountain and statue installed in 1898 depicting Lazarus Schwendi (1522-1583) by Auguste Bartholdi, famous sculptor from Colmar to be the designer of the Statue of Liberty located on Liberty Island ! Demolished in 1940, the fountain was rebuilt after the war with a smaller basin, facing a different direction, to once again house the statue in the Place de l'Ancienne Douane (Old Customs House Square).
