We decided to try and see the sunset in Fira instead of Oia to avoid the crowds. Found this site about 5 minutes from the bus station which was ideal.

Google maps will tell you that you can walk up through the car park past the pharmacy however, there are no stairs this way (we did some climbing).

I would suggest turning right towards the Town Hall (there is a sign) then take a left by the blue dome roof building and you will see stairs down into the park.

Famous Fira/Thera sunset without crowds!!

This quiet and peaceful “park” is minutes from the tourist centre of Fira … where people pack together to see the sunset.

Yet it’s deserted. Calm. And you can park easily by the town hall or nearby pharmac.

Maybe the only one public parks you can find in town. It's an oasis from the crowded streets, shops and hoteles everywhere in Fira. The views are magnificent and you will be mostly alone. There are some trees that can give you some shelter from the sun.
