We really enjoyed our visit and it covers a great deal of the history of Norwegian exploration. This museum is just opposite fram museum. Very interesting how they have made the boats. If this is combined with the other museums in the area, it makes for almost a full day of exploration.

This is an amazing exhibition following the adventures of Thor Heyerdahl, seeing the impressive water craft he built for the crossing of the pacific (balsa wood raft)and Atlantic, (reed bundle raft). One of three must see museums in the immediate area.

One of the highlights of our trip. If I could recommend only one museum in Oslo, it would be this one.

We originally thought it would be a quick, novelty stop before visiting the Fram Museum, but it turned out to be much better and was easily the highlight of our day.

The exhibits told a really interesting story and taught us about a part of history we’d never really thought about before.

This museum is very interesting, especially if you’re interested in Thor Heyerdahl’s famous expedition across the Pacific in 1948. You can even see the original raft! There’s also a lot of information about his other archaeological work on Easter Island and his later ‘Ra’ expeditions across the Atlantic. It’s definitely worth a visit. You can save a bit of money by getting a combined ticket with the Fram museum.
