Wonderful place to come for a walk, listen to the ocean, explore nature and see wildlife. There is plenty of parking and restrooms before you set off on a hike. You can go left for an easier hike to the lighthouse or right for a hike to the lighthouse that is a bit more rugged. The center of the island is off limits as it is a nesting area for birds. The walking paths are paved and wide. We saw plenty of birds and even two wallabies during our walk. The lighthouse is a great area for taking pict

The island is a sanctuary for birds and has a walk trail around the outside of the island. The first part of the gravel track would be suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs, however on the far side it goes onto the beach, and you need to cross the rocks. The pathway to the lighthouse would be fine. Plenty of parking near the entrance, with caravan parking on the town side, near the playground and toilets.

The Island is a dune habitat, and one of Australia’s most accessible breeding colonies of short tailed shearwaters or mutton-birds. You can also see kangaroos during walks. You can follow the walking track to loop the island which takes approx one hour which also includes some beach walking. 1.2km to the lighthouse or 3.1km for the full loop. For the best light and photography, try to visit the island early in the morning. I love the sand dunes on this island and be careful they are highly unsta

Do the longer walk along the beach if your capable it’s not to hard but it was really rewarding. Lots of beautiful vistas and protected coves. Heartbreaking thing though was the amount of dead birds that I believe are being taken by foxes overnight, they were baiting when I was there
