I was lucky to be there in low season(Winter). Our guide told us it's usually always busy all year long but people avoid it in winter because of the snow. It was magnificent and informative. Guides aren't allowed inside churches so they brief you in advance and you go inside on your own. One thing you should never neglect is photography isn't allowed inside churches and there's always someone inside watching for cameras even if you don't notice them. Excellent museum with lots to see and good restoration work. But keep in mind that they don't allow photos inside the churches. So if you want to take photos and record your experience, you should consider elsewhere. And this is the primary reason that they did not get a good rating. What age is it? It's hard to believe there are still open public venues that doesn't allow photos with your phone.

This was the most expensive single ticket we had… and we really wished we had bought the 3 day pass. Do this if you are seeing a lot of sites in 3 days. This site is not large and can easily be done in 1-1.5 hrs. Not much to see inside the cave dwellings. A plus of this site over others is that there are signs describing the rooms. There is not much for why this place had such a strong church relationship. It is not a place where lots of people lived. Good if you are only near goreme for balloo

They advertise the ticket price as 20 euros, but we were charged 50 euros for 2 tickets. When I confronted, they said it was their daily conversion from euros to Turkish Lira.

It is not allowed to take pictures and film inside most of the buildings. Most of the constructions are destroyed and bad preserved due vandalism.

In my honest opinion I think the ticket is not worth the 20 euros, even less the 25 that was charged. You get almost the same view from outside.
