In the very center of Jelsa, not far from the square (Piazza), there is a magnificent Renaissance-Baroque square of St. John with a small Baroque church. Around the square are stone houses with picturesque balconies, which were built in the 16th century. The Church of St. John is definitely worth a visit - parts of the church date back to the 6th century. Since the Old Town stands on the site of the Greek city of Pharos, some remains of that time are visible in some parts of the city, in particu
