I visited Bellanwila temple after being exposed to some books authored by Ven. Bellanwila Vimarathana thero (1942-2018) about the famous murals drawn by Somabandu Vidhyapathi (1923 - 2006) during the period of 1993 - 1996. The artwork is very well crafted and it is inspiring at the same time calming to witness such majestic artistic work. Must visit for every Buddhist devotee and art lovers.

An ancient Buddhist temple close proximate to Colombo city. There are huge Buddha statues in the main shrine room. Make sure to enter the premises with a suitable attire. Parking is available.

Many people come to this place to seek help for all their troubles. A beautiful procession with a large cultural display is held annually. The temple also has several elephants.
