The Batticaloa Lighthouse is a peaceful and scenic spot that beautifully combines history and natural charm. Light house has a history more than 100 yrs. Located in a very scenic area where I did not have a parking issue due to less people.

The Lighthouse itself is rather shabbily maintained and could do very well with a fresh coat of paint. But it was a thrilling experience to climb the narrow stairway of 10 steel ladders, each with 10 rungs to get to the top. The birds eye view of Batticaloa and its surroundings was really worth the effort of getting to the top.

This Batticaloa Lighthouse is a charming and peaceful spot near the coast, perfect for a relaxing visit. Located close to the lagoon, it offers scenic views and a refreshing sea breeze. The area around the lighthouse is calm and ideal for photography, especially during sunrise or sunset. While the lighthouse itself is not always open to climb, the surroundings make it a lovely place to unwind and enjoy nature. A hidden gem for those exploring Batticaloa.
