A must do in Crete !

We visited Amazonas Park during a day excursion from Gouves, after Agios Nikolaos.

We really enjoyed the park and hearing the story of its owner, it was very interesting! The park is very small but it’s beautiful and the animals seem well taken care of.

The highlight of the visit was the feeding of the lemur and I really like the explanation given by the staff as they mention the safety of their animals as a priority and touching them was not allowed. You can buy some foo

Very sweet animal park. Well kept. Lots of birds and some primates. The one poor dog that was on duty looked rather sad, and a few animals were without a well needed companion, but otherwise a very pleasant stop off on our Quad bike adventure. This was October, so quiet and no wait for entry.

Lovely little zoo, we really enjoyed our visit. Not a whole day kind of place, 1-2hrs at most. Car parking just opposite the entrance. €14 per adult entry. Time for lemur feeding is written on your entry ticket and you meet at the cafe for further info and to buy the cup of food (extra €4 per cup) to feed them. Other animals to see as you wander round. Cafe is expensive in my opinion. Toilets clean.

We stayed in Heraklion and went here in our last day. They have a lot of animals and birds to see and they are treated very well. The main attractions are the lemurs which are fed at certain times. We got there before the feeding time at noon an checked out the park. At 12 we gathered in the snack bar area and the care keeper told us the rules of interacting with the lemurs and gave us the option to buy a small cup with fruits and vegetables for them to feed. The zoo is nice, it's on a hill, so there's at least a bit of a breeze. You have to walk up and down inside the zoo, but we didn't mind. There's a feeding place for the lemurs, and a feeding cup costs €4. The feeding was good, but they probably weren't very hungry, so they only took bananas etc. from the cup. Don't leave the rest there, you can feed the goats right next door.

We had a bad experience with the turtle enclosure. Inside the enclosure, there's a small circle where tiny baby turtles
