Visiting Abdeen Palace felt like stepping directly into a living chapter of Egypt’s royal history. The palace grounds alone are worth the trip—the gardens are beautifully maintained, highlighted by magnificent gazebos. One of the most striking features is the surreal fig tree, said to have been imported specially from Bangladesh by the king himself.

A nice museum. You can see a lot of historical weapons and other valuable items there. The place is quiet and relaxing. Open until 3:00 PM. A ticket for foreigners costs 150 EGP.

We visited so many stately homes and palaces and I will confidently say this tops them all. What a beautiful palace that has architectural brilliance and fantastic collections of artefacts from all the world and civilisations. Alas, king Farouk’s residential parts of the palace were not opened to the public. However, we saw a cinema inside the palace. Really worth visiting this world wonder when in Cairo.

If you book the palace tour two days ahead maybe you will see something neat, but the normal tour or visit is like a presidential library to see all the guilded gifts presidents and kings give each other like a gold plated Kalashnikov from Russia? So i would skip the normal tour.
