I stayed near Yu River Square for a couple of nights, and it was also my first time staying in a traditional guesthouse. That experience added a completely different layer to my time in Lijiang. Lijiang ancient town has very good heritage preservation quality and is worth a visit at least once.

The gateway to the many marvelous walking streets of Lijiang Old City . It is not big but not overcrowded except during the peak season of spring and autumn ,mainly due to many streets joined to this square dispersing the crowd . The use of flowers and the indigenous written language as decoration is a feature . Most popular western fast food names are here . You won't be annoyed by motorised vehicles here as they are kept out of the square.

Came here in the morning, afternoon and evenings and was never bored. Always enthralled by the beauty and charm of the cobblestone, artistically designed roof, columns and the many ancient houses. But the beauty more enhanced in the evening with the many colorful lights, turning this place into a wonderland. Been to Lijiang 2 times during travels but still loving the great place.

This old village is totally crowded during daytime (even at nighttime around 10pm). The toilets here are supper (compared to other Chinese toilets).
