We took a wonderful stroll around downtown Shanghai and went to visit the Yu Garden. It’s 30 RMB per person and is a wonderful walking experience. Such a small area however such a large about of beautiful buildings and sculptures / paintings / carvings to view. It’s a big maze and one could get lost but it’s such a small area one can’t get lost for long.

The entrance price is fair for what you get. The atmosphere is amazing! Calm, traditional, and full of history. Walking through the pavilions, bridges, and gardens feels like stepping back in time, far away from the busy city outside. Everything is very clean, well maintained, and clearly taken care of. Overall, a great experience with a top atmosphere and excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

Visiting Yu Garden in early March felt like wandering into a Ming Dynasty painting come to life. The highlight was catching the plum blossoms (meihua) in full bloom—their soft pink and white petals looked stunning against the classical architecture and dragon walls.
