We took this tour in early October 2025. It's an absolute must when visiting Matera! The tour was in English. The guide was excellent—engaging and friendly. Her explanations were clear, and the videos were as well. She was able to answer all our questions. I learned a lot about Matera’s recent history, the issues related to the neighborhood and living conditions, as well as everything involved in the relocation of over 15,000 people. Thank you Mariagrazia. our guide for such a touching and deppl

A fascinating tour telling the story of the life of the Sassi, showing real video of their day to day life. It focuses on how they lived, and the project to understand their lives, which resulted in them being moved from their cave dwellings.

We really loved the guided tour of the cave houses and learning about history of Matera and the people. The stories and videos are well constructed, beautifully presented, and thoughtfully put together. Highly recommend the tour as a starting point of touring Matera. It was very educational and great experience

An incredible walk in the authentic world of the sassi. Natural, authentic and compellingly told. If you want to touch the history and life of the people who lived in this strange way, this is the place. Thanks to our guide Maria Grazia, whose fascinating narration made the experience even stronger!

This was an amazing tour. Highly recommend it. Great way to see how people lived in Matera. The tour guide Tiziana was awesome. Very passionate about the history and answered every question with enthusiasm. She also gave us great advice on other things to do in Matera. This was my favorite thing to do here because I felt like I was going back in time.
