I've been to a few of these museums as a historian, and very few manage to be so gentle about this type of information and so compassionate as Vabamu has. Despite the many heartbreaking stories they share which are crucial to understand Estonia as a country and people, they somehow managed to push beyond the pain into hope. Very interactive and modern facility as well with a wonderful giftshop for those interested in learning more

A very insightful museum about the lives of everyday Estonians and their struggle for freedom during the Second World War under the Nazi and Soviet occupations...and the eventual oppression from the USSR until their independence in 1991. This experience will throw you into the lives of the people who lived and died through these terrible times of terror and persecution. The stories are sad, but full of hope and positivity to be able to eventually live in a free and independent Estonia. Definitel
