Hidden, secluded, meandering, and apparently unknown. We visited this museum the day after doing the wall walk - and in stark contrast to the top of the wall, we had the entire museum to ourselves. Walk through twising passages, imagine what it must have been like to work in the foundry as you slowly make yourself through the tunnels and hallways. This place offers a cool reprieve from the hot Dubrovnik sun, and is quite fascinating to walk through. There's a mix of historical explanation and be

An excavation on the site of the 'Gornji Ugao' tower, in the north-west corner of the walled city of Dubrovnik, in Croatia, uncovered evidence for a foundry established in the second half of the 15th century and largely producing armaments. It's a bit difficult to find, but you'll find it at the Gornji Ugao Tower - and instead of going higher to the city wall, you actually go down lower, and it's typically one way entry, with exit somewhere else.

This difficult-to-find museum is worth the search for a wonderful break from the crowds and heat and a very different view of the city walls than you get from above. That’s more than just the building where you enter; make sure to go out the back and follow the paths all the way to the southern/seaside wall. There are some bizarre “art” installations as well as stellar views with nobody else nearby.

Totally agree with other reviews referring to this as a "hidden gem". Having done the City Walls the previous day, this nicely complemented the experience taking you below the walls into the oldest and only preserved structure from the medieval history of Dubrovnik. In complete contrast to the walls above, I had this place to myself. The foundary museum below one of the towers offers a good insight into the casting & moulding processes undertaken here. I hadn't realised that entry to this museum

The absolute hidden gem of Dubrovnik. There were ZERO other people here and it was an enormous museum with tunnels under the tower, an excavated foundry, parts of the walls you can't see on the wall walk, and a newer excavated area under the south walls. Takes you along one entire side of Old Town. It felt like we had a private tour of the coolest parts of the city. A little hard to find as signage isn't really present, but walk to Minceta Tower within the walls and go up the flight up of stairs
