Great experience visiting the place. I recommend for a day trip.

You have to take a boat from Zanzibar ferry Terminal in front of Mercury’s Bar. We had a good boat ride to the island. You will be in the island during 2-3h waching free turtles and having a bath inside blue turquoise water. Beautiful place and it seems that the people responsible take good care of the animals. Small tourist site but it is a good opportunity to see land turtles of all ages and sizes.

I loved the tortoise sanctuary, you can tell they are well looked after and protected. Conservation is a big deal to me so I appreciated their work at conserving these giant tortoises. The price is a bit steep for a tourist but I thourally enjoyed the whole island tour and musiem. The information in the museum was so informative and interesting. The downsides for me is the price and that you cannot directly interact with the tortoises.

It is a nice boat trip from the city, and worth visiting since the turtles are gigantic and many hundred years old, so definitely a thing to see.
However, the park is not in the best condition, i wish they had more funds to keep the turtles in a better area.

I’m an extremely professional traveller , take my advice .. this island is not worth it at all ! If you don’t believe me ? Go and see by yourself
As someone who traveled 76 Countries, this is by far the worst interaction I’ve ever had with turtles. Despite the dozens of scams we faced during our arrival and trip to this park, we found the turtles in extremely bad condition. The vibe, smell, lack of clean signs and scams .. and multiple other reasons is why I don’t recommend this at all !!
