🗽🔥🌎🌴🌆 This ever-burning beacon of both welcome and hope continues to light up Downtown Miami. The Torch of Friendship has always felt symbolic to me — almost like Miami and the Gateway to Latin America’s own Statue of Liberty. A proud, steady reminder of unity, connection, and the warm embrace this city offers to people from across the Americas.

Today we stopped to observe this special monument built in 1960, to emphasize the Torch of Friendship that was built to signify the passageway for immigrants coming from Latin America and the Caribbean to Florida. Twenty-five years later, we are observing a different climate between the nations due to current deportations performed in the US. The Torch of Friendship in Bayfront Park is a highly symbolic piece of public art and monument. Its shape resembles an upraised torch, representing light and hope. The torch holds special diplomatic and cultural significance—it symbolizes friendship, solidarity, and exchange between the United States and Latin America./250924

Judging by the inscription on the left side it must be dedicated to the memory of JFK. Lots of beggars and homeless at night. Just nearby stands a monument of Juan De Ponce - Spanish discoverer of Florida. Shame on Google Map that its not listed on G Maps.
