A masterpiece and a place to visit while in Venice. Everything started from here. Strongly recommended. Luckily, it will not be crowded, unlike the rest of Venice, despite its beauty and historical importance.

A really incredible old building, with masterpiece mosaics inside. Mildly disappointing that some areas were closed and that you couldn’t take pictures but it was worth the small fee to help with the upkeep of such a place.

This is a masterpiece of Byzantine art and mosaics. Often when you visit such places, one is disappointed because they never quite your expectations on size, hover the primary wall is absolutely gigantic. It is a rare survivor in the modern era of the style of art.

Used to be something of a well kept secret but now has many visitors. Again, and somewhat disappointingly, it is forbidden to take photos inside, even though one pays to enter.

Quite disappointed in this place. Was told it is worth the visit but seems more like most parts are closed for work and there is a whole list of things you can't do including taking photos. The most interesting part is the mosaics which was closed... and if you need to use the WC then you have to pay an additional 1.5 Euros (June 2025 so may be more by the time you read this). To really add injury to insult, despite being catholics we were refused entry into the church to pray. Not the worst t
