A pond just in front of the famous Todaiji temple. Perfect place for selfies and wefies. This is still the free part of the temple grounds.
There is a small stretch of waterfall located at the east end of the pond.

Beautiful pond. Be prepared for the large volume of people. Wonderful experience even with all the crowds.

My favourite spot in the entire park. I had the most memorable interaction with a deer without any other rude tourists interjecting by shoving a cracker in the poor deer's mouth as we are bonding. Most people have run out of crackers by this point in time. I was saving a few just to share with a special deer. Unforgettable experience...

The pond is situated right in front of the main temple so you can hardy miss it. It's a very good spot for the pictures as the main street leading to the temple is very crowded. There was in contrast noone at the pond except of only a few visitors dressed in national costumes. Being there last March during the gray afternoon, the water is not that nice and there were no sakuras yet. But I'd imagine it looks very different when it's sunny.

(Trip was made back then on 21 Nov 2019, 2 years before the Covid-19 Pandemic hit)
Nara is known for its deers, but it is also popular as an autumn fillip age destination spot.
Just outside Todai-ji Temple is a beautiful pond decked with different shades of warm colours from Mother Nature.
It was definitely worth the trip to Nara during the autumn season. Really wish I could revisit again…..
