What a great power walk along the River in the Steveston area. I stumbled upon the seine net loft before it closed at 4pm. My family are fishermen and I have spent time in another net loft when they mended their nets. This still has the wooden draft scent inside. It is very beautifully preserved with the large beams still in tact. There are so many displays to see. A must see if you are interested of the history fishing and boat industry in BC. It was nice to see the conservation awareness

The Shipyard Historic Site is a lovely place to visit, especially during spring and summer. It’s a great destination for family outings or school field trips. Located right by a large river, it’s also perfect for a peaceful walk or a scenic jog.

Although the history displayed here only dates back a little over a hundred years—which may not seem very old by global standards—it’s considered quite significant in the context of Canadian history. For local visitors, it offers a meaningful glimpse in

Britannia Shipyards is a nice historical spot with scenic views and interesting heritage buildings. It’s small, so you can see everything in under an hour. Worth a quick visit if you’re in Steveston, but not a full-day attraction.

Fantastic area of preserved history, didn't have enough time to tour the canneries. Only visited the boat builder and houses of the workers, around 5 houses showing the living qualities of people back then, such as the manager's house, (Japanese ship builder) Murakami house and Chinese dorms. Some buildings are repurposed, such as the 1st floor of chinese dorms is an empty area with some chairs (probably a meeting area for events).

The buildings are generally well refurbished, but there's quite

I love how you can immerse yourself in the environment here. It looks like a significant portion of the exhibits are under construction at the moment (6 out of 13 of the buildings?). Prior to this construction, the Chinese bunkhouse was one of my favourite exhibits, because you can so plainly see the living conditions of the workers.

Looking forward to when the construction is finished! Hopefully, it is to renovate the exhibits, rather than to tear them down.
