The Brisbane Opal Museum is a hidden gem—small in size, but rich in content. It’s perfect for anyone curious about opals or looking for a relaxed and informative hour in Brisbane. Friendly staff, interactive exhibits, and fair pricing make this one of the city’s most recommended stops.

We recently visited the Opal Museum, and it was an incredibly enjoyable experience. Upon arrival, we were provided with tablets that featured informative videos, making the entire visit feel interactive and engaging. Bryce, one of the staff members, was exceptionally friendly and took the time to show us how opals are polished. His explanations were thorough and easy to understand, which made the process fascinating to watch. The museum is definitely worth the price of admission, offering both e

What a fascinating museum! It was well set out and the staff were both welcoming and knowledgeable. Tori, our guide, pitched the tour well to our interests. She was very pleasant and informative. She was particularly willing to provide additional explanations and to answer questions. Definitely worth a visit! I have already recommended it to others.

I am not into stones and gems but came to buy a gift. I ended up visiting the museum and found it very interesting. Opal mining is a handcrafted activity and it is in fact fascinating. Have your opal get polished by the staff there, it loved to be able to bring my friend back a personalized piece. The staff is very friendly and gave me a lot of info.

Visiting the Opal Museum is on the list of things to do in Brisbane. Museum entrance fee is 10 dollars. When you enter the museum, there are many unique minerals in the first room. There is also a video demonstration explaining the formation of opal in the same room.

If you pay 50 dollars, you can shape your natural opal stone with the help of experts.

There is a painting table where you can prepare the colors of your own opal. You can also hang your work on the board.
