The fire station, Karl Johans gate 11 near Oslo Cathedral, was built between 1854 and 1856 in connection with the bazaars from unglazed red brick in the Neo-Romantic style. The architect of the entire complex is Christian H. Grosch. The tower served to dry the water hoses. After the great city fire of April 14, 1858, in which the area with 40 farms and 1,000 inhabitants between Prinsens gate, Karl Johans gate, Skippergata, and Kongens gate burned down, efforts were made to establish a better fir
