Off-the-beaten-path treasure. Seeing the incredible handiwork of the nuns was awe-inspiring. Definitely stop in to support them and enjoy their beautiful unique art.

It is located since 1664. The great poet Hanibal Lucic's daughter in law Julija willed this place to Benedictines in 1591. There are many things displayed. The nuns have been making laces of agave threads since 19th century which is mentioned in UNESCO's List Of The Intangible Cultural Heritage Of Humanity. The laces are very famous and available for sale but they are expensive.

This monastery is the location of a lace museum: the nuns here earn some cash by making lace. But the lace is made from fibres of the agave plant.

Nice to see. Small collection of historic items. Mostly it's about lace made by nuns inside cloister. Twine is made out of agava plant.

The work is beautiful. The history sounds interesting. However there was a very limited explanation about the process. Furthermore, we paid 5 Euros each to hear that the person who was at the entry wanted us to leave before we even finished to look at the last room. It was almost one hour before the close time. Why didn’t she told us when we came in that she wanted to close little after we arrive? This was certainly not worth 5 Euros each!!! Very disappointing!
