Must visit place you are travelling to Beijing. Classic trasitional Chinese architecture. The rich colours of Chinese architecture, multiple wooden joinery systems, different scales of monuments all set in a very harmonious layout. Only problem is the crowd. try to visit during non peak seasons if you want to enjoy the place in a good pace.
