VERY confusing signage. When I went to the marked building, I was asked to cross the bridge (west of marker) and then go down a side road into the lake and marshland, basically walked down the West Bank of Nedimala Canal Southbound. Amazing wildlife, but you have to be careful, there were huge crocodiles and the water hyacinths grow right upto the footpath where you could get taken. The footpath is at waterlevel.
I had a brilliant time, enjoying nature. Just switch on so you dont get nibbled 👀

Amidst the well-populated suburbs of Attidiya, just outside Colombo, lies the marshy lands of Attidiya Bird Sanctuary. Bordering the famous Bellanwila Buddhist Temple; the sanctuary has rich and diverse birdlife, despite its comparatively smaller area. The Attidiya Bird Sanctuary is well known for its migratory and endemic waterbirds but is also a great place to watch butterflies.

Wouldn’t quite call it a bid sanctuary. But a nice little walk along the side of the river. Yes there is some rubbish but that’s to be expected in this part of the world. Saw pied kingfishers and white throated ones, as well as lots of herons and an Asian openbill.
