A must-see in Antigua. The Arco de Santa Catalina is iconic, beautiful up close, and especially great for photos with the volcano in the background on a clear day. It’s quick to visit (you’ll likely pass it anyway), but it really does feel like one of those “yep, this is Antigua” moments. Go early morning for fewer crowds.

Iconic, and as such it ia very busy. You can hire photographers to capture the perfect picture for you. If you go before 7 AM there are very few vehicles or people. Lots of vendors

Caught the sunrise at Arco de Santa Catalina and it was absolutely worth the early wake-up. At that hour it’s peaceful, quiet, and almost magical — even the clouds cleared a bit for us right as the sun came up.

For about 15 minutes after sunrise, it was still calm before the crowds started rolling in. I walked by later in the afternoon and it was completely packed, so I’m really glad I made the effort to come early. If you want to actually enjoy this iconic spot, sunrise is the time to do it. 🌅
