A commanding and intellectual bronze figure of Adam Smith (1723-1790), Scotland's world-renowned philosopher and author of The Wealth of Nations. Seated with a thoughtful expression and holding a book, he gazes down the Royal Mile—the historic heart of the city where ideas and commerce have long intertwined. The statue is one of four surrounding St. Giles' Cathedral, including David Hume (across the street), Alexander Henderson, and John Knox. This is more than a statue; it's a powerful landmark

Not many economists get their own statue. An interesting and traditional monument to a great historical thinker.

A very prominent and very well done statue of this historical figure. Easily seen while walking along high street. The cathedral makes a great ba stop to your photos. Thanks.

Historic statue of Adam Smith . Adam Smith was considered a pioneering economist and icon for many even today, Worth a visit especially for students of economics and finance. The seagul perched on his head also agrees 👍!

An interesting sculpture stood outside of the cathedral. There are many interesting sites like this one along the royal mile and it is well worth spending time seeing them all.
